The brute in a suite! The Godin Detour has not been a big success, and I guess I know why - the sound is modern-heavy, the appearance modern-vintage...too decent for all the shredders. But I like it just the way it is ;o)
The Detour features a 7/8 strat-like body (black sparkle gloss finish) similar to the Godin Freeway series, maple neck with satin finish and rosewood fretboard, which all feels great. Fixed bridge and string-thru-body construction, all hardware is black. 3-way-switch for the two humbucker wiring, volume and tone controls.
PUs are Godin homebrew, high output type...really for the heavy part ;o) The sound is very modern, all shredding styles included, however, if you are a spoiled brat (like me ;o) you would most probably want something with a more defined character. So, at some stage I'm gonna exchange them for something with a little more soul.
Anyway, this is a great guitar, extremely good value for money. And as the Detour has been replaced by the Redline series, you might get some leftovers for less than EUR 300,- at some stores. If you are really looking for a good guitar for your kids or yourself, get one of these.
I used it for the more aggressive parts in our music. And guess what, I have tuned it down to drop-D ;-). It's a lightweight alternative to LP-copies which features a lot of sustain, despite of the bolt-on construction.
Great guitar....but sold now...
